Standing Committees

Applied Exercise Science Program Committee

Chair: AES Program Chair(s)

Purpose: Administer AES faculty meetings; serve as faculty liaison with Office of Undergraduate Student Affairs; review course and curriculum changes.

Athletic Training Program Committee

Chair: AT Program Chair(s)

Purpose: Administer Athletic Training faculty meetings; serve as faculty liaison with Office of Graduate Student Affairs and Athletic Department; review course and curriculum changes.

Curriculum & Instruction Committee

Chair: Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education

Purpose: Evaluation of new course proposals; assignment of course nomenclature (e.g., degree vs. non-degree, lower- or upper-division, undergraduate- or graduate-level, etc.); evaluation of potential school-wide ramifications of modifications to degree requirements proposed by individual programs; consideration and recommendation of policies and procedures that contribute to the ethical and effective instruction of students; consideration and recommendation of policies and procedures that contribute to the ethical and effective behavior of students as members of our academic community.

Endowment and Scholarship Committee

Chairs: Senior Director of Development and Executive Director of Finance, Planning & Operations

Purpose: Review donor intent, gift agreements, funding plans and scholarship recipients

Executive Committee

Chair: Dean

Purpose: It is advisory to the Dean. It has an important role in all tenure and promotion cases (see relevant sections of this handbook), review of faculty productivity, requests for sabbatical leave, course and curriculum changes, and many policy issues. Standing. The Executive Committee meets monthly, on the first Tuesday of every month, from September through May (additional meetings as needed). Meetings are scheduled from 3:00 till 5:00pm in the School of Kinesiology Building.

Graduate Faculty Committee

Chair: Associate Dean of Graduate Affairs

Purpose: Review graduate applications, review doctoral students’ annual performance, and assist ADGA with Graduate Program requirements, policies, procedures, and general oversight. Maintain and distribute award descriptions; solicit nominations from faculty, students and staff; select candidates for awards. 

Movement Science Program Committee

Chair: MVS Program Chair(s)

Purpose: Administer Movement Science faculty meetings; serve as faculty liaison with Office of Student Affairs; review course and curriculum changes.

Space Advisory Committee

Chair: Executive Director of Finance, Planning & Operations

Purpose: Review office and lab space requests and allocations, school space concerns, equipment inventory and needs.

Sport Management Program Committee

Chair: SM Program Chair(s)

Purpose: Administer Sport Management faculty meetings; serve as faculty liaison with Office of Student Affairs; review course and curriculum changes.

Staff Leaders Advisory Group

Chair: Executive Director of Finance, Planning & Operations

Purpose: Strategic planning for the school operations, review university and school policy and procedures, plan all-staff meetings, information dissemination.

Staff Professional Development & Core Values Committee

Chair: Director of Human Resources

Purpose: eMpower SoK staff to improve their own knowledge and skills as well as school culture by providing professional development opportunities with a focus on core values.
