During my second six weeks starting out in a fourth grade class, it took me a couple days to get used to my students routines, and what they would do throughout the day. After observing several days and communicating with my cooperating teacher, she told me that the perfect reading lesson would be for them to focus on listening comprehension.
I created a reading lesson plan where they would listen to the story too many tamales, and then apply what they learned. After done listening to the story, a story map was filled out together as a class, and then the students had to retell the story in paragraphs on their own, using the information from the story map.
Technology integrated in this lesson was the video shown to the students, and the Google slideshow that was presented to them as well. I'm glad to say that the students were able to work more on their comprehension, and they succeeded in doing so.
