Antimicrobial Resistance: Combating The Silent Pandemic Mini-Symposium, 8 September 2022
Antimicrobial resistance has become a major challenge in our globalised world and tackling it will take the combined resources and effort of stakeholders working across different disciplines. Concerns over the issue of antimicrobial resistance are both in human and veterinary medicine. Due to the overuse of antimicrobials and poor infection control measures in recent years leading to therapeutic failure, WHO has made an urgent call for governments, health professionals, industry, civil society, and patients to act quickly and cooperatively to stop the spread of drug resistance, minimise its impacts today, and preserve the advances in medicine for future generations. This symposium will foster synergistic collaborations between the various institutions in AMR research which will ultimately assist local policymakers in developing evidence-based interventions and countermeasures to reduce the emergence and spread of AMR in Malaysia.
