First round Challenges consist of the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematical Challenges.
Our first round Challenges all cost £15 or £16 for 10 entries, depending on whether they are posted or downloaded and are available to both UK and overseas schools.
Posted Vs downloaded
If you purchase the 'paper posted' format, then you will receive your question papers via the post.
The deadline for purchasing these entries is roughly 3-4 weeks before the Competition, to allow us time to get the papers to you. If you miss the deadline, you will still be able to order entries, but you will need to order the download format.
Only schools within the UK can purchase posted papers.
If you purchase the 'paper download' format, then you will need to download and print your question papers in school, along with your answer sheets.
All first-round Challenges, Kangaroos and Olympiads should be sat under strict exam conditions. UKMT Competitions should not be sat at home under any normal circumstances. Please see 'Access Arrangements' if a student may require exceptional circumstances.
Kangaroos consist of the Primary, Junior, Grey, Pink and the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo.
Entries for the Junior, Grey, Pink and the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo cost £4 each per discretionary entry and are bought singly. Schools do not need to pay for qualifying students. There is only 1 official Competition date for participation in each of these Kangaroos.
The Primary Kangaroo is slightly different from all the others. Entries are sold in packs of 10 and they are priced at £10 per pack. Participating schools will have 1 week to take part in the Primary Kangaroo and they can choose any day within the specified week to host the Competition.
Kangaroos can only be sat via the UKMT for UK schools. This is because the Association Kangourou sans Frontières have their own agreement with various countries.
Kangaroos are entered by invitation or discretionary purchases. Invitations will be sent to students at UK schools based on their results from the first round of Challenges. We will let coordinators know if they have any qualifying students via email.
Please note: The question papers and answer sheets will need to be downloaded and printed in school. We only post out hard copy question papers for first round Challenges.
Olympiads consist of the Junior, Cayley, Hamilton and Maclaurin Olympiads, the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 and Round 2 (BMO1, BMO2) and the Mathematical Competition for Girls (MCG) and the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (MOG).
Olympiads are available to both UK and overseas schools.
Olympiad entries have varying costs between £25 and £50 per discretionary entry and are bought singly. You do not need to pay for qualifying students.
Olympiads are entered by invitation or discretionary purchases. Invitations will be sent to students based on their results from the first round Challenges and, in some cases, eligibility criteria. We will let coordinators know if they have any qualifying students via email.

If you are a UKMT registered overseas school with a student who holds a British Passport that would like to take part in MOG please contact us so we can organise this for you.
We also have a policy for allowing entry for refugees to enter our Olympiads, please contact us for further information.
Helpful tip: All schools are entitled to 2 free entries to MOG for eligible students, and can purchase up to 2 additional entries. Make sure you don't miss out on this opportunity!
