At the UKMT, we honour all access arrangements put in place by your school for all Challenges, Kangaroos and Olympiads with the exceptions of BMO1 and BMO2. For example, if a student is entitled to 25% extra time in exams then this will be honoured (not in BMO1 or BMO2).
Please note: You do not need to inform us of extra time arrangements. For access arrangements requiring an alternative examination venue please see below.
All UKMT Challenges, Kangaroos and Olympiads must normally be taken in school. The only exception is where a candidate’s situation means that an alternative examination venue (such as home or a hospital) has been / would be approved for public examinations.
In such circumstances, please send us a written request in advance to challenges@ukmt.org.uk detailing what exam arrangements you are proposing, with a brief reason (we do not need the details of the candidate’s illness or disability).
Note that invigilation must be put in place as it would be for a public examination. If your request is approved, we will need to know the name of the candidate.
For blind or partially sighted students, we can provide braille or large print papers of our First-round Challenges and Kangaroos on request.
Please note: because of the nature of our Olympiad-style answers, we cannot supply Olympiad papers in braille or large print.
Please contact us at least 4 weeks before the Competition to place an order.
A student whose first language is not English may use a basic English-X dictionary provided that it does not include any mathematical information.
Mathematical dictionaries are not allowed during UKMT Challenges, Kangaroos or Olympiads.
If you have any follow-up questions regarding this please don't hesitate to contact us.
