Below you can find all the important information for during a competition:
Your students' answer sheets need to be uploaded by 23:59 on the day after a Competition (the only exception is the Primary Kangaroo which needs to be uploaded by 23:59 on the last day of the competition). We will send you an email reminder on the day.
Full instructions on how to upload your students' scripts can be found here.
TOP TIPS:
*Your file needs to be under 14MB to be uploaded. If your file is larger, please split the file and reupload*
*Scan the pages in black and white on your printer settings, this will ensure you can increase the amount of papers in one file*
*Remember to check your uploads. Can you see all QR codes and corner markers on each sheet? If not, they will not be marked.*
*If you get an error message, please refresh, log out and back in and try again. This often fixes the issue.*
The question paper can be found in the 'Documents' section of your Competition Profile (on the left hand side in the grey box) 2 days before the competition starts (except for the BMO1 and BMO2 where the papers will be available at 3pm the day before the competition).
We only send out question papers for first round competitions (JMC, IMC and SMC) and the Primary Kangaroo. All other competitions need to be downloaded and printed.
If you have ordered the question papers to be posted, we will endeavour to get them delivered to you on time, however we cannot guarantee this as some things are out of our control (for example, postal strikes). We use an external mailing company for the printing and posting of our papers.
The papers should arrive at your school in at least 2 days ahead of the competition. If they have not arrived by 2 days before, you will be able to download the papers from the 'Downloads' section on your Competition Profile. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
Please note: Question papers will only be sent out if you have ordered before a certain deadline. You can see if you have ordered the correct item, as the item name will end in "(QP posted)". If your item ends in "(QP download)", this means you will need to download and print the question paper at school.
Full instructions on how to download your answer sheets can be found here.
Please note: we do not send any answer sheets to schools.
You need to insert the students name and the correct year group code in order to download your answer sheets. For qualifiers in follow-on rounds, you will need to re-enter the year group codes.
If you cannot see your answer sheets straight away it is because we do have to manually generate answer sheets when schools buy entries. The office is open 8am - 5pm Mon - Fri. We will be available to generate answer sheets within those times.
Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to check your uploads; however, you can check your own uploads by downloading them from the 'Answer Sheet - Upload' tab.
As long as your answer sheets are clear and straight, with the QR code and all 4 corner markers clearly visible, then they should be fine.
Some reasons that your answer sheets may be rejected can be found here.
If your student has automatically qualified for a follow-on round, you do not need to purchase entries for them. These will be automatically processed for you, free of charge, and we will contact you with further details after the first-round Challenge results have been sent out.
If your students did not qualify for a follow-on round you can of course purchase discretionary entries for them. The entries for follow-on rounds will open for purchase on the day the first-round Challenge results are released.
All schools over 2 hours ahead of the UK need to sit the competitions the day after the UK date.
Overseas schools can take part in all competitions except the Kangaroos and MOG/MCG.
All overseas schools need to download their answer sheets by 5pm (UK time) the day before the competition. This is because the office opening hours are 8am-5pm Mon - Fri and due to time differences, we will not be available to open the download function for you. Please prepare the answer sheets in advance of the competition day.
Below you can find other competition information:
Your student can only sit one follow-on round, either the Kangaroo or the Olympiad.
If your student has qualified for a Kangaroo and you think they would benefit more from the Olympiad, you can purchase an Olympiad discretionary entry for them. This does mean however, that their Kangaroo entry will go unused as you cannot give this to another student.
If your student has qualified for an Olympiad but you don't think they are quite ready and you would rather them sit the Kangaroo, please contact us and we can arrange this for you free of charge.
Unfortunately we do not accept Purchase Orders here at the UKMT anymore, to place an order please visit your school's Competition Profile. At checkout you will be able to include your purchase order number and then immediately download an invoice for payment.
Purchases can be paid via BACS or Paypal/card.
Instructions on how to order can be found on this page.
You have 30 days to pay the invoice. If you buy entries for a competition close to the competition day, you will have access to the materials without paying. You will still have the 30 days to pay.
Students are invited to BMO1 based on a combination of their overall score and their performance on the full-response questions. It is therefore not possible to give a single qualifying score.
