Jawatankuasa Penilaian Etika Penyelidikan (ERC) KPK is appointed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research & Innovation (TNCPI) based on recommendations from relevant management, such as the Dean or Pengarah Kolej dan Fakulti. The ERC is responsible for ensuring compliance with guidelines, procedures and ethical approval management with a strong emphasis on protecting the rights, safety and well-being of researchers. The ERC plays a key role in reviewing and approving research involving minimal risk as well as evaluating  requests for exemptions in research that exceed the minimal risk threshold. Research proposals requiring higher-level ethical assessment are referred to the Jawatankuasa Etika Penyelidikan UiTM (REC) for further review.
