Research and innovation are two (2) key elements in determining a university's performance, particularly in national ranking systems (Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA)) and international rankings (QS World University and Times Higher Education (THE)). The highest ranking with good quality of research will enhances the university's reputation as well as contributes to knowledge advancement towards industrial development and society beneficial. 

As high quality of research imparts a significant impact on academic reputation thereby UiTM aims to produce innovative research that addresses current challenges. Hence, this strategic focus will enhance UiTM’s recognition at both national and international levels to strengthen industry networks among researchers, industries, and stakeholders, foster outstanding graduates, and attract investors' interest. As a result, it will lead to greater academic collaborations and increased research funding, ultimately reinforcing the university’s overall performance. So far, a university actively engaged in research contributes to national development and attracts more investments in technology and expertise. 

Furthermore, research also given a positive impact during teaching and learning process. In fact, the lecturers who actively involve in research can share their latest findings, knowledge or technology with students, making learning process more relevant and evidence based. So, this approach develops our graduates to be more critical, creative and competitive in the job market. 

Overall, it can be concluded that research is the foundation of university excellence, influencing global rankings, academic reputation and societal impact. Investing in research not only strengthens the university’s position but also drives long-term advancements in knowledge and technology. 

Aligned with UiTM's Research DNA Initiative, the PI KPK unit is committed to mobilize full efforts in managing all aspects of research and innovation. This includes implementing initiatives to increase the number of principal investigators for research grants, indexed publications, postgraduate supervision, strategic collaborations, permanent members of excellence entities, intellectual property and the research impact to the community. 

Therefore, it is hoped that the integrated efforts and strategic initiatives undertaken to realize this well-structured plan will create a wave of success in the field of engineering at KPK and UiTM.
