Micro Industry Hub & Start-Up/Spin-Off Company
Micro Industry Hub & Start-Up/Spin-Off Company
The Micro Industry Hub (MIH) is an initiative by the Business Innovation & Technology Commercialization Centre (BITCOM) aimed at encouraging more companies to operate within UiTM to conduct research and commercialization activities for new products over a period of up to five (5) years.
This collaboration is based on a win-win concept between UiTM and the industry, supporting human capital development, local product innovation, academic publications, graduate employability enhancement and the commercialization of products and services. The MIH program optimizes the strengths of both UiTM and industry partners by leveraging human resources, knowledge, skills, experience and networking to enhance technology readiness and market expansion.
Introduction to Start-Up and Spin-Off (SUSO)
A Start-Up Company originates from an individual’s idea without the support of an existing organization. Start-up companies are given a maximum operational period of three (3) years, during which they may apply for assistance such as workspace and/or financial loans from UiTM to ensure their competitiveness and sustainability. However, the approval of such assistance is subject to UiTM’s discretion.
Meanwhile, a Spin-Off Company is a business owned by UiTM staff that has been authorized by UiTM to commercialize intellectual property, technology, services or research-based products from the university. Additionally, spin-off companies must demonstrate satisfactory financial performance and comply with the agreements signed with UiTM. Spin-off companies are also permitted to engage in profit-generating business activities beyond those related to the commercialization of UiTM’s intellectual property, allowing for business expansion and growth.
