Resource & Kit Libraries

The physical items available to borrow from TJRC are divided into two collections: the Resource Library and the Kit Library. Click below to search the collections according to what type of item you are looking for:

1.  Access the TJRC Kit Library search website. Login (upper right hand corner) using your firstname.lastname@ugdsb.on.ca email address and password.

2.  Select "Terry James Kit Library" from the dropdown menu under the "Home" button.

3.  Search for and find the kit (makerspace, novel set, etc.) that you would like to book. On the right side of the screen, click on "Book Item".

4.  Make sure that the "Site" displayed at the top of the booking window is correct - this tells our staff where to deliver your items. Please If your site is incorrect, please include a message with your booking and/or email terryjames.library@ugdsb.on.ca to alert us to the error.

5.  Select your target start date from the calendar in the pop-up window - the system will automatically set your end date. Complete your booking by clicking on "Book Item(s)".

6.  A booking confirmation message will pop up. Click "OK" and repeat the process to create additional bookings. 

To explore topical and seasonal lists of books available on site at TJRC:

1.  Navigate to the TJRC Resource Library search website. 

2.  Double check that you have selected the correct library from the drop-down menu under the "Home" button - it should say "Terry James Resource Library".

3.  Click on Resource Lists (located to the far right of the search bar). 

The Resource and Kit Libraries provide educators with access to responsive, relevant materials to support learning and classroom instruction - everything from professional resources and picture books to makerspaces and augmentative communication devices. Along with the ESL, Special Education, Student Mental Health, and Equity and Indigenous Education teams, we work hard to ensure that the materials we provide meet the full spectrum of student needs and are aligned to our board policies and best practices. 

When borrowing from the Resource Library, items do not need to be booked in advance and are loaned for two (2) weeks.

When borrowing from the Kit Library, all kits need to be booked in advance - novel set kits are loaned for eight (8) weeks, while all other kits are loaned for three (3) weeks. Kits are delivered to your school via board courier - they can be returned via the courier or dropped off at the TJRC during business hours. Items must be returned by the due date unless a renewal as been approved in advance.
