What is CELA?

The Centre for Equitable Library Access, CELA, is a national not-for-profit organization that provides accessible reading services to the approximately 3 million people across Canada with print disabilities.

CELA provides access to a collection of over 1 million titles in multiple accessible formats, including audio, braille, printbraille, and text.

To support students at each stage of their education, CELA's free Educator Access program provides elementary and high school educators with full access to the collection on behalf of their students with print disabilities.

Who is eligible?

Educators who work with students with print disabilities in an elementary or secondary institution are eligible for the Educator Access program.

Print disabilities are disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to read ordinary printed books, and include visual disabilities, physical disabilities, and learning disabilities.

How do I register?

Guelph Public Library (GPL) is now supporting all UGDSB educators with streamlined registration for CELA’s Educator Access Program - no fees, no fuss!

Students with print disabilities can also register for an individual CELA account.

If you have questions about registering or need accommodations, please contact Lauren Bull, Supervisor of Library & Media Services.
