Once exams are scanned and uploaded to Gradescope, do not throw them out! Students' exams must be safely stored for various periods of time, depending on whether they are midterm or final exams.
Once scanned, designate one person on the instructional team (the instructor or one of the TAs) to hold on to physical midterm exams until the end of the quarter.
For final exams, hold onto them until the end of the subsequent quarter—not counting the Summer in the case of Fall, Winter or Spring final exams.
For example, hold onto Spring finals until the following Fall; or in the case of Summer final exams, the end of the following Fall quarter as well.
The purpose of this practice is to ensure that, if there is some sort of scanning error, students' exams can still be recovered and properly graded.
