GAIN - Genentech- Foundation sponsored Academic Inspiration Network

Genentech Foundation sponsors fellowships for two 2022 programs:

  • Mentoring support for Spring Biology classes (remotely)

  • Summer Research Internships at UCSC

About our UCSC mentors

All GAIN mentors work as postdocs in UCSC laboratories. That means that all mentors have completed a PhD (mostly at different universities) and are now conducting research projects in a laboratory of UCSC professors in biomedical fields. Most postdocs will continue their career as professors at a variety of universities (predominantly teaching, predominantly research, or liberal arts), in biotech, in government agencies, or other science-related fields. UCSC does not have a medical school, so none of the mentors underwent medical training. Links to the labs where the postdocs spent most of their time are in our photo gallery.
