Waste

Current waste projects

The waste team have done a fantastic job the past year or so in reducing the schools waste (as can be seen in the Emissions Areas graphs) by introducing new bins in classrooms. At the moment, each classroom has a paper recycling bin, and a Covid waste bin. Mixed recycling and general waste bins in communal areas, with roughly one bin per two or three classrooms in most areas of the school.

It is important to note that the paper recycling bin is for, well, paper recycling and that the Covid waste bin is for (you guessed it!) Covid waste. Joking aside, it is important not to mix the bins - not to put general waste (crisp packets etc.) in the recycling bin, say - as this can lead to the entire bin not being disposed of correctly or recycled at all.

Please not only be mindful of what you are putting in these bins, but also encourage others to check what they are throwing away, and to not use the recycling bins for general waste. If you are not sure which bin something goes in, ask someone, or put it in the general waste, as this is (as much as it may sound counter - productive) much better, as if the wrong thing goes in the recycling bin, the entire bin could be not recycled.

The action plan has been completed and can be seen below, alongside a food waste cookbook (which can also be accessed here ) as well as other waste information. You should be able to scroll through both of these on this page, but otherwise open it in a new window or contact us (see our help Page)
