Many of our bilingual alumni (back row) work as bilingual teachers at Gates Elementary School. In 2023-24, 6 teacher residents (front row) were selected for their teacher residency program.
The teacher residency program at Gates Elementary School was launched in 2023-24. The residency program will run for four more years. Each year, six candidates are selected for this residency. It is a highly competitive program. Interviews for selection are conducted in early to mid May. All entry level tests must be passed in order to be eligible (CSETs multiple subject and CBEST requirements). CSET III Spanish must also be passed by the interview date or at least registered to take in early summer. The teacher residency provides a stipend that is used for tuition. A great portion of your tuition is covered with the stipend.
