All newly admitted MAT candidates are aware that they are required to pass all CSET exams (or subject matter equivalent) by June 9, 2024 in order to enroll in the program. Passage of CSET exams is both a UCI MAT Program and Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirement. The Student Affairs Office has reviewed your records on SLATE and completed requested transcript reviews and has determined that you need to take the following steps indicated below to meet subject matter competency requirements. Please upload all documents to the post-submission folder in your application portal (SLATE).
The Subject Matter Requirement can be met in multiple ways.

In order to provide some flexibility for those who have not completed all required exams by 6/9/24, we are providing a conditional extension until August 5, 2024. Candidates who choose the extended option and are unable to pass all required CSETS by 8/5/24, will need to defer their enrollment after completing Summer Session 2 and return in fall 2025. Choosing to defer in either June or August will not necessitate reapplying to the program; admission to the 2025-2026 cohort will be guaranteed if you submit your passing scores for the remaining CSET exams by April 15, 2025.
Candidates who are unable to submit passing CSET scores by 6/9/24, must either
defer their enrollment until June 2025
OR
sign the contract before paying fees for Summer Session.
