Canvas is the learning platform that most of your UCI faculty will use in their courses. On Canvas, you will be able to access each of your courses and find the course syllabus, readings, materials and assignments. You will upload the majority of your assignments onto Canvas.
Google Classroom is a learning platform you will use with your program Coordinators and your Supervisors. Google Classroom is part of the G-Suite, which you will have access to as a UCI student (Google docs, slides, sheets, sites, etc.). Many classroom teachers use Google Classroom with their own students, so it is helpful to be familiar with this platform. [this website is a Google site]
You are already familiar with Zoom! You may have interviewed on Zoom, or at least participated in a placement meeting with your Coordinator. Zoom is a video conferencing tool that allows us to hold virtual meetings and classes. Your UCI faculty will use Zoom to hold class sessions while distance learning. You will also see Zoom used at the K-12 level for teachers to use with their students while schools are closed. Every UCI student will have a Zoom account while distance learning is in place.
Video is an invaluable tool for self-reflection and growth. At UCI, you will take many videos of yourself teaching. You will analyze these videos then submit them to UCI faculty, your Supervisors and for the edTPA. You will upload many of these videos onto GoReact, a video sharing platform that allows you to tag specific skills and strategies you use in your teaching. Every MAT student will have a GoReact account while they are a student in the program.
