Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.
Collaboration is an essential part of my practice. I love being able to meet with my colleagues to plan and create curriculum and that increases student success. I'm very fortunate to have an incredible team at the University of Central Arkansas. Five of my colleagues are Apple Distinguished Educators, and all of my colleagues are excellent collaborators who bring unique and experienced perspectives. I collaborate daily with my STEMulate team as we work to meet the needs of local learners.
Each year I collaborate with Dr. Deborah Dailey, Dr. Alicia Cotabish, Dr. Nykela Jackson, Mrs. TJ Hendrix and Mrs. Michelle Buchanan to develop curriculum and host a STEM camp for local students in grades 3-6. Our camp is called STEMulate Academy. We work together with inservice teachers to develop PBL curriculum that is interdisciplinary and focused on the engineering design process. Inservice teachers collaborate with university faculty in the creation and facilitation of the camp curriculum. Below is an example of some curriculum that was created for the camp and images show facilitation of the curriculum as well as a video showing the management of digital devices and physical materials.
