As a part of my Integrating Technology and Teaching class, I have students reflect and report their learning through various platforms. One of these platforms is through Twitter. Incorporating twitter into my class with pre-service teachers is critical for their understanding of digital citizenship and supports their development in the process of becoming a professional educator. I interact with students on twitter through a professional account that is separate from my personal account. I suggest that students create a professional account that can contribute to their professional digital identity. Throughout the semester I have students interact and reflect on their learning while considering their own professional digital identity. We discuss the importance of creating an online persona that compliments their offline persona and promotes them as an effective professional educator.
