Notes on Programs and Regulations

Regulatory vs. Recruitment-focused, Narrative, or Descriptive Information

The Calendar is a policy document.

As such, program pages should focus on regulatory information.  All other types of information (ie. recruitment, narrative, or descriptive) should be kept to only what is absolutely necessary.  Instead, these other types of information should be published on a website and then linked to from the Calendar.  This also includes staff listings and person-specific contact information.

Combined Programs

Combined degrees programs were historically represented by two sets of pages.  Instead, best practice is to merge these pages as follows.

The primary set of pages is housed with the faculty to which students first apply.  This set consists of a complete listing of entrance requirements on the faculty-specific admissions page and a primary program page, which contains all relevant general information, program regulations, program requirements and notes.

The second set of pages is housed with the second faculty.  Instead of having complete information, this second set will consist of links to the primary sources of information mentioned above.  One link will connect the two faculty-specific admission pages.  The second link will connect a redirect page housed under the second faculty to the primary program page housed under the first faculty.  This is done so that the Acalog filtering functionality will still list the combined program under the second faculty, but will only have one true source of information.
