The following components will be assessed in this Clerkship. Passing these components is required to pass the Clerkship.
*Please watch the Standard Setting Video for an explanation of the Angoff method.
**Note on Pass Marks**
Historical pass marks serve as an estimate for the minimum passing score in each course sub-component. The official pass marks for the current academic year will be finalized after each assessment, taking into account any necessary adjustments to the standard-setting process.
According to the MD Program’s Assessment & Rewrite Policy, students in all years of the MD program have two attempts to pass each mandatory assessment component of a course or clerkship, as outlined in the course or clerkship syllabus. This policy does not apply if a student misses an assessment due to an unexcused absence or is found guilty of academic misconduct. The format of the second attempt will be determined by the course or clerkship coordinator. Students should note that the second assessment may differ from the first; however, it will cover the same overall objectives.
If any required components of the clerkship are not completed by the last day of the rotation, the student will receive an "incomplete" grade until the outstanding components, such as logging clinical encounters or procedural skills, are submitted and completed.
As stated in the MD Program’s Policy for the Timely Release of Student Marks, final grades for each course must be recorded within the appropriate student information systems, as determined by the MD Program. These grades must be made available to students no later than six weeks following the last day of the required learning experience. It is strongly encouraged that final grades be released within three weeks of the final day of the required learning experience. Final grades and pass/fail decisions will be ratified at Academic Standings at the end of the academic year.
