What are CE Electives?

These are pre-clerkship electives run by medical students, for medical students in years 1 and 2. Our Local Officers (typically consisting of a Sr. and Jr. Officer in 2nd and 1st year, respectively), work towards incorporating social accountability and advocacy into our education and future medical practices. Within the CE electives, students will explore different aspects of community engagement via the student-run electives based upon the following themes: Global Health Education and Advocacy (GHEA), Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH), Indigenous Health (IH), Inner City Health (ICH), and Disability Health (DH).

Students are welcome to attend any and all events of interest to them. Pre-clerkship students may complete their 12-hour elective requirement in any of the CE electives, or by doing a mix-and-match CE elective by attending a total of 12 hours across the different portfolios' events.

*Students wanting to do an international clinical elective must take the full 12 hours of the GHEA elective as it is a prerequisite for participation. Please see the Global Health Program's step-by-step instructions for more information on participating in International Electives and attend the information session with Dr. Dominic Allain in October (date TBA).
