8. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH PAPER - LAW 526
The LAW526 - Independent Research Paper course provides students with the opportunity to undertake an independent research project on an approved topic under the direct supervision of a full-time Faculty of Law member resulting in the submission of a research paper of 8,000 to 10,000 words.
To find a supervisor in your area of interest, consult the research areas and profiles of faculty members, found here. Sessional instructors are not eligible to supervise independent research papers.
After securing a willing supervisor, students must complete the Independent Research Paper Form available on the "Academic Resources" page of the Faculty of Law's website. This form ensure that consultation between the student and the supervising Faculty member has taken place before a student is registered in the course. The form requires the signature of the supervisor before its submission to Student Services at least three business days before the term's add/drop deadline. After you have submitted the signed form, you then enroll yourself in LAW 526 for the appropriate term.
Students may register in more than one LAW526 - Independent Research Paper course, but only one per Term.
