4. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS & COURSE OUTLINES
Every course has an official description of its content in the University Calendar. An accessible listing of all LAW courses can be found here.
The Calendar description is very short. Instructors supplement the Calendar description by providing a "Course Description" that gives further information about a course's content and its assessment. The Course Descriptions are found on the "Academic Resources" page of the Faculty of Law's website.
At the beginning of each course, instructors are required to provide students and the Faculty with a "Course Outline". The University's policy about Course Outlines can be found here. (Many instructors may refer to their Course Outline as a "Syllabus".)
While every effort is made to ensure that the Course Descriptions reflect the additional details provided in the Course Outlines, some development of courses may occur between the date of registration and the term in which a course is delivered. The Course Outline establishes the framework for the course and supersedes the Course Description. Since aspects of the courses described in the Course Descriptions may be amended, students should consult the Course Outlines for the definitive descriptions of a course's content and assessment components.
