project reflection
I was unsure of the grade I would receive because I used templates instead of the actual social media websites. I am glad that I followed through with it because it allows the social media feel without actually using the website. Basically, social media in education scares me. I think it's wonderful for professionals. After all, I am an avid social media user and am thankful for my PLN. Because I know how social media can affect us all socially and emotionally, I would not feel comfortable allowing students to use it.
My favorite part of this project is the templates. It's amazing what you can create using Google apps. Students find them engaging and view assignments exciting because they are able to share information they have learned in a different, more engaging way.
Social media is another way for students to collaborate and communicate academically and socially. Implementing social media into the classroom requires a lot of time and effort from the teacher. Although there are a lot of privacy and safety concerns in regards to students, when students are taught how to use technology responsibiliy, it allows interesting and engaging ways for them to learn.
