PD Framework

This professional development opportunity is designed for elementary teachers chosen by their principal or instructional technology coach due to their leadership in their schools. A teacher from grades K-2 and 3-5 will be in attendance from all 12 elementary schools.

The interactive training will last two hours and be led by the instructional technology coaches. All materials will be provided to the teachers through Google Classroom. There will be two mini sessions: one on the introduction to the ISTE Standards for Educators and Mapping the Journey (the district's implementation of digital transformation thus far) and the introduction to HyperDocs which they will have the opportunity to complete.

The training will be held at the Central Office Computer Lab. Although teachers will be instructed to bring their district-issued device to the training, they will have the choice of using a Chromebook from the Chromebook cart provided or a desktop computer.

Teachers will have the assistance of all the instructional technology coaches and a technician who will drop in periodically throughout the training to ensure there are no connectivity issues. Teachers will be able to collaborate and interact with teachers from other elementary schools in the district as well as those from their own schools.

Teachers will use digital tools suggested by the instructional technology coaches who designed the professional development opportunity, which will allow them to view the tool from a student's point of view.

Teachers will have three follow up sessions as well as consistent support from their instructional technology coach when they return to their schools. Teachers will also be expected to complete a turnaround training with the assistance of their coach for their faculty that will highlight what they learned at the training and how they implemented it into their instruction.
