The Touchstone Honors Program requires participants to engage in service during their program of study at TWU, and in so doing, to accumulate a total of 35 service credits and 5 fundraising credits prior to graduating with honors.
5 of the 35 hours of service must be completed through AHS fundraising activities or events officially sponsored by the Office of Honors Programs.
The Fundraising Secretary together with committee members will prepare Fundraising Documentation forms for each student that participates in a fundraising event. The Fundraising Secretary will maintain a tracking sheet for each semester’s events and fundraising credits earned.
You can earn service hours by actively participating in AHS through the:
AHS Executive Board (15 hours/semester)
Standing Committees (12.5 hours/semester)
Social/Cultural Committee
Outreach Committee
Publications Committee
Fundraising Committee
Recruiting Committee
Service Committee
Mentor Program (12.5 hours/semester)
AD HOC Committees (12.5 hours/semester)
Alumni Relations
Special Topic/Event
Committee secretaries, in conjunction with the AHS Executive Board, determine guidelines for satisfactory service and may adjust a committee member’s service points for the term to fewer than 12.5 points if the secretary feels the member has not contributed sufficiently.
Students who perform community service may earn one service credit for each hour of documented volunteer work logged with an approved agency.
Only volunteer work with one of the AHS approved service organizations may count toward this requirement.
Students must document their volunteer service on the Community Service Documentation form available below and on Pioneer Engage. Documentation forms for service should be submitted to ahsservice1@gmail.com.
Virtual service should be submitted through the form below using your TWU email:
Approved agencies are announced at the beginning of each academic year and are posted on the AHS Pioneer Engage site, complete with contact information.
Proposals from students for new service organizations are welcome if completed and submitted to the New Service Org. Proposal form by the stated deadline.
Students may also earn service virtually!
