Have you sought out your marigolds? Are you a marigold for someone else?
In the words of Elena Aguilar, author of Onward, "Self-care is the root of resilience when you're dragging yourself toward winter break and your emotions are raw." This time of the year is TOUGH. In fact, it might be the toughest time of the year, making taking care of ourselves even more important. Self-care means making intentional decisions to put our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being at the forefront of our work. When you care for yourself, then you're in the right space to do the same for those around you.
Our bodies and emotions are "inextricably intertwined" and what we do (or don't do) for one will unavoidably affect the other. In it's entirety, Onward is focused on the emotional self-care and resilience of educators through building and cultivating essential habits and dispositions. Here are some resources to help you focus on how to take care of our bodies so that we can be in the physical spaces we need to be in order to adequately tend to our emotional needs.
In case you can't physically get outside, here's a beautiful virtual walk in the woods.
If you can't make it to the ocean, a nearby lake, stream or waterfall, consider looking for videos that can bring the power of water to you!
