TTSD TSEL Mission

The Tigard-Tualatin School District is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, creating a learning atmosphere where social and emotional growth is valued as a cornerstone of student success. We believe that Transformative Social and Emotional Learning (TSEL) is central to how students learn and thrive. We embrace the rich diversity of our community, recognizing how an individual's identity, culture, language, and heritage enrich our collective experience. We aim to integrate TSEL into education, promoting self-awareness, empathy, and resilience. We commit to equipping educators with the TSEL skills necessary to guide and support our students effectively. Integrating TSEL with instruction enhances critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. TSEL in TTSD supports holistic well-being and empowers students to shape a caring, equitable society.

A requirement for the 2024-2025 school year by ODE is for all districts to have officially adopted and implemented a CASEL SELect program. We're happy to say that TTSD is ahead of the curve, as our programs are either already CASEL SELect or are in the process of gaining the certification.

Adult Transformative SEL

Focuses on improving adult wellbeing, creating a positive work environment, and increasing competence so that adults can teach, model, coach, and nurture SEL with their students.

Fosters opportunities for students to develop and practice their knowledge, skills, habits, and dispositions. Oregon’s Transformative SEL Standards are a pathway to nurturing Student SEL.
