Grandma's Stuffed Peppers

There are many different types of stuffed peppers, my Grandma makes the Italian kind with bread stuffing.

You will need:

7 peppers

1 onion

bread

salt

poultry seasoning

1 egg

1 cup chicken broth

oil either olive oil or peanut oil

large frying pan

1. Break up 3 cups of bread.

2. Chop up 1 onion.

3. Poultry seasoning 2 tablespoons

4. 1 egg

5. Mix

6. Add 1 cup chicken broth or until bread is wet.

7. Cut the top of Sweet Cubanelle and fill.

8. Get a pan to fry your peppers you can use olive oil or peanut oil.

9. Put peppers in the pan then sprinkle with salt.

10. Low and slow is key so they do not burn.

11. You can cover just rotate occasionally.

12. (Optional) you can bake in the oven.

Break up 3 cups of bread and chop one onion and put it into a bowl.


Add one egg and 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning and then add 1 cup chicken broth or untill your bread is wet.


Put a pan on the heat with oil.

You can bake them in your oven to 325 and cook for 15 minutes, or until the middle is hot.

Cut the tops off the peppers and hollow them out.

Stuff your peppers, but leave a bit of room at the top so the filling does not fall out.

Put the peppers in oil and put a pinch of salt on top.

Cover them and rotate occasionally.

They should get a nice brown color, then take them off the heat and enjoy.

I interviewed my Grandma for this recipe.

So, my grandma learned her recipe from her mom in Buffalo, NY. She learned the recipe from helping her mother make it. Their stuff peppers use bread which is an Italian spin on the Spanish stuffed peppers which had either cod or chicken for the main ingredient. My Grandma says that this is a very good way to get rid of bread and an easy, tasty recipe. This recipe has been passed down from her mother’s-mother to her mother, to my grandma, then to me. The bread stuffed peppers came from southern Italy.
