A hyperdoc is what it sounds like. It is a digital document that has access to a bunch of other information through hyperlinks found on it. It can be useful to organize information into one place and it can also be an tool to engage students. I use a 5E hyperdoc that is based on a 5E lesson plan. I try to make it engaging by adding images connected to content being learned.
Engage section:
Phenomenon/Problem---this is what guides the entire learning process. A phenomenon is something that happens in the natural world that can be explained. A problem is something that needs a solution in the natural world.
Journal---this is where the students record all of their learning. It will have the phenomenon activity that starts each standard, a place for the essential question, a place to record new information from the explore section, the lab, a place to take notes over the teacher video lesson and readings, and to put their revised models.
2. Explore Section: (Changes depending on the standard)
Informational video---A quick video that gives an insight into the material in the standard.
Teacher video---A quick video where I introduce the most important idea of the standard.
Article---A science article annotated by me to only include meaningful information for the standard.
Lab---A hands on activity that introduce ideas from the standard. (This will be done in class)
3. Explain Section: (Changes depending on the standard)
Lab results---Students answer questions to see how the lab connected to the standard. (I will be going over the answers only in class)
Virtual activity---Some type of online program that goes deeper into the information from the standard.
Teacher video lesson---This is the most important informational piece of the hyperdoc. This will have a recorded lecture, notes, and explanation of the performance assessment. It is meant to be referred to multiple times throughout the learning process of the standard.
Textbook reading---A link to the online chapter(s) that correspond with the standard. (Might be a science article)
4. Elaborate Section:
Class discussion---The topic of how the standard connects to God.
Question---Posted on classroom to inspire discussion.
