A traditional classroom is where the students come to the classroom and use the resources in the classroom to learn. Then they use those resources and do work to show their learning outside of class. Sometimes refereed to as "I do, we do, you do". This model has lots of flaws but the biggest is assuming the work on their own is not also part of the learning. The work in my experience is the largest part of the learning because it is when the student finally gets to show their understanding of the material as well as work through the learning process. Who and what is the best resource as the student goes through this work? The teacher who is very knowledgeable on the content and is an expert in teaching. This is why I have switched this process around. Students will do the bulk of the information getting outside of class time using a 5E hyperdoc (click the link to understand this in more detail). They will do most of the explore and explain sections of the 5E hyperdoc on their own. Then they will do the work in class in the evaluate section where I can help them be successful.
