I am Ian McCloud and I am currently the middle school science teacher at Trinity Lutheran School. I have a wife, Naomi, who is a nurse at a pro-life women resource center in the Quad Cities. We have a son, Elisha, and a daughter, Ellie. We are active members of Risen Christ Lutheran Church where I am an elder and help out with confirmation. In our free time as a family we enjoy going to parks, taking walks, hanging out with other couples, going to the Farmer's Market, and seeing family when we can. My interests our all over the place! I love sports, playing, watching, talking about, or coaching. I am the head girls tennis coach at Davenport West. I binged watched TV and movies before it was a thing. I love to travel and these experiences have changed my life. I pride myself in being able to make connection with anyone based on my many interests. Mostly my life can be summed up as spending time with my family, teaching, coaching, doing church activities, and repeat.
Growing up I never imagined becoming a teacher. I loved school, don't get me wrong, but doing it as a teacher my whole life was a different beast all together. I loved learning new things and becoming more knowledgeable. The social aspect of school was awesome. Seeing my friends everyday brought joy to my heart. I formed great relationships with my teachers. Overall it was a great experience for me. So when I got to college and all of those things were no longer in my life I reflected on what was now missing. The answer I came to was school. That is when I decided this was the profession for me! I want everyone of my students to share the same experiences I had with school. So my goal is to help students learn new things, have fun with friends, and build positive relationships with their teachers.
I grew up for K-Secondary Education going to public schools. I started my professional life at 2 public schools. My entire academic life has been public education. So why am I here? The simple answer is God! God has called me to teach in this Christian environment. I get to teach about God in all I do here at Trinity. God is absent from public education and that is the root of all of its issues. I can interject God's word into my classroom management, character development, science lessons, and get the chance to share Him openly in any setting.
