Maryland Tech Invitational 2025
Alphatronic has just returned home, again as winners, this time in a very high stakes competition: Maryland Tech Invitational, which reunited the best 40 teams in the world. Alphatronic even beat the World Champions!
Game Awards: Winning Alliance - 1st Team Selected: 24033 Alphatronic from Cluj-Napoca, Cluj, Romania
They were also awarded an honourable mention for Software Innovation and Quality, recognizing teams that demonstrate both innovative application of software in this year’s FIRST Tech Challenge game and strong software engineering techniques.
We congratulate the Alphatronic team for receiving the Lyceum Award at the Gând-IT in Romania Gala, in Cluj on 28.06.2025, on the National Theater stage. Mr. Călin Grigorovici, one of the Alphatronic mentors, received the award on their behalf, as our amazing team is currently in Maryland USA participating in another robotics competition.
Zoom interviewes were taken in advance, trying to sketch the "portrait" of Alphatronic and also of Transylvania College. The portrait films of all the admirable award winners are uploaded on www.ganditinromania.ro, on Youtube and not only. They are starting to circulate non-stop on all social media channels in campaigns targeted primarily at teenagers and young people. By choosing their models and, why not, mentors from among these people that we choose to promote, teenagers' lives and perspectives can fundamentally change.
What an incredible experience for Alphatronic! Today’s visit to the Star Assembly factory was truly inspiring. Witnessing firsthand how cutting-edge technology and precision engineering come together has shown our team the level of innovation driving the world’s leading industries.
Our students understand that the tools and systems they’re learning to use in Alphatronic are the same ones being used by top-tier companies around the globe. This is more than just robotics ….. this is preparation for the future.

🌟 On Tuesday, July 30, 2024 the Alphatronic team had the unique opportunity to participate in a technical workshop organized by one of our older community members who was happy to share his valuable knowledge on completing the engineering process in building a robot 🌟
⚙️ First of all, the participants of this course have completed the first step of the design process of a racing car, namely the identification of the tasks that the robot needs to complete and the challenges that could occur during this first stage ⚙️
💙 Later, the participants looked for solutions and possible parts with which to build the so-called car, to eventually discuss potential platforms that might help them build simulations for our robots 💙
🪄 Thus, the Alphatronic members present at Tuesday's workshop were grateful to have the opportunity to gain new engineering knowledge that will help them at the same time and in real life, when they will have to, for example, analyze more complex challenges that might arise and how they might solve them. he could apply the resources at his disposal to get through them well 🪄
On July 27-28, our team took part in the off-season Somes Tech Challenge @somestechchallenge (STC), which replicated the concepts of the game from the previous year. 💫
Alphatronic competed in an off-season event organised by @boltsngears and @atomicbots, sweeping first place in drag racing, rally, and offroad! 🌟 Thrilled to share our victory and proud to be interviewed by ProTV! 🚀
💫 On June 21, the older representatives of the Alphatronic team gathered together with the new volunteers to participate in the 3rd initiation workshop in robotics and in the First Tech Challenge community 💫
🤖 To begin with, since this course was a technical one, we looked over the key parts in building robots that participated in past editions of the FTC competition, understanding what they use and what companies offer such components 🤖
🎥 Later we watched a short presentation with Caroline, the robot we created for the national team this year, finally learning what obstacles she has to overcome on the field and how she manages to do it 🎥
On June 17, the old and new members of the Alphatronic team met to participate in the second workshop. They had the opportunity to learn about the prizes of the First Tech Challenge competition and come up with ideas for various outreach activities. For 2 hours, they worked in groups and came up with new visions for the activities together with other teams participating in FTC.
Collaboration and creativity were the key factors in helping the team members to create wonderful presentations. In conclusion, it has been a wonderful experience for everyone where we learned and discovered new things about the competition we will be participating in.
Today, both Alphatronic's senior representatives and new recruits met for the first workshop in a series of 3 workshops to be held this summer to discover the values on which the First Tech Challenge competition is based on and to participate in several educational activities. team building. 🤗
Thus, we had the opportunity to get to know each other better, working in groups to create and present a logo that would reflect our team, while writing a portfolio page to describe what we learned today. Thus, today's workshop was a unique experience and helped us to understand the roles we play as part of the FTC community. 🫶💪
We held a presentation for our main sponsor, Wayfare, to express our heartfelt gratitude for their support. We were thrilled to receive the fantastic news that they will continue to be our primary sponsor.
Following our participation in the National Championship, we hosted a middle school assembly where we showcased our robot, celebrated our successes, and discussed the challenges we faced. Our goal was to motivate and inspire young students to explore the exciting world of robotics and innovation. We hope to spark their interest and passion for STEM!
