May - June 2025
We celebrate the TRUST DAY on May 13th.
Organising the Ted Talks for year 10 students on this occasion has become a tradition in our school.
This is the Project Based Learning for Year 10 during term 3, which involves meeting experts in public speaking, preparing and delivering a final speach on real world issues - ideas worth sharing - in front of a large audience.
The Bridges Over Time Project is for both students and teachers. It helps one express our feelings and opinions in English and use English to learn about different things like:
History
Visual Arts
Literature
Culinary Arts
MAIN GOAL: To show students how important English is in today's world for culture, art, and communication.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND DO:
Realize that you can show feelings with words and colors.
Learn how to find information from different places.
See the differences in culture, lifestyles, and customs in different historical times (Ancient, Medieval, Victorian, and today).
Be more open to different cultures.
Be creative and try writing and speaking in English.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT HAPPEN?
The Bridges Over Time Competition has three parts:
School Phase: In your own school, during April-May. This is for learning, getting ready, and choosing who will go to the next round.
County Phase: This will be in person on May 23rd, at 12:00 PM at: TIBERIU POPOVICIU INFORMATICS HIGH SCHOOL, Calea Turzii 140-142, Cluj Napoca
Inter-County Phase: (Details will be announced later)
WHAT YOU WILL DO AT THE COUNTY PHASE:
You will give a speech (monologue) on a historical topic:
GYMNASIUM (Middle School): 2 minutes long
HIGH SCHOOL: 3 minutes long
You can choose a historical person or event to talk about. You can also use props if you want!
PRIZES: The winners will receive prizes worth a total of 2000 lei!
HOW TO JOIN? Please send Miss Miahaela Romaniuc / your english teacher an email by May 10th, 2025.
Don't miss this great opportunity to learn, create, and connect!
March - April 2025
This week, all the tutor groups (each grade/year, per house) are challenged to create a special house group greeting/cheer which includes sound and movement.
These greetings will be presented in the assembly after the Easter vacation. Students can practice them in the Connection time. They will also be used during the primary and middle school house games prepared by the grade 9 students for their younger colleagues, happening around Children's Day.
There are 4 Core Team Competitions:
Business Mastermind Students tackle real-world business challenges, creating pitch decks in English. With guidance from an MBA Business Coach, they brainstorm, research, and refine strategies, presenting to hedge fund and finance executives in London's financial district.
StarStage Quest Students explore peace and security through a collaborative drama project inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. From scriptwriting to performance, they examine global issues, drawing parallels to Shakespeare's themes.
Virtual Gallery Showcase Students use the latest VR headsets to create virtual galleries celebrating their school, community, and cultural heritage. They will showcase their school's ethos and local culture through various media formats, using Meta and Spatial's Creators Toolkit.
Global Unity Debate Students engage in a dynamic Model United Nations simulation, experiencing international diplomacy through virtual reality crisis scenarios, bloc formation, and debates. They negotiate resolutions and sharpen persuasive arguments.
