Summer Fete 2025

Dear all,

The summer vibes are getting close announcing the approach of an event which is very dear to all of us. This year’s Summer Fete will take place on the 6th June, in the second part of the day, 12.30 - 15.20 (12.30-13.00 setting up, 13.00-15.00 selling, having fun, 15:00-15:20 - clean up).

The selected theme is Together for a Good Cause. This is a whole school event which brings the entire community together with a lot of fun activities while raising money for these important projects:

Primary:

Amicii Dog Shelter
Centrul pentru Ingrijiri pediatrice Sf Hristofor
Scoala Increderii: Doștat

Secondary:

Red Bears - Via Transilvanica

Golden Eagles - Ecoteam

Primary & secondary students will decide together with their tutors what they will sell and will organize their stalls.

If the weather is fine we will organise the stalls on the grass field and in the forest, the sports activities on the sports court and in the parking lot. In case of rain we will move all the stands in the Forum, lobby and Underground and we will cancel the sports activities.

Each product / activity will cost between 3-10 lei, we encourage the students to have enough money to be able to buy stuff and to participate in as many fun activities as possible.

Tășu Project event

We warmly invite you to a special screening of the captivating film “Apa și talpa” (The Run of Your Life), an event enthusiastically organized by the dedicated students of the Tășuleasa Social Team from Transylvania College.

We’ve joined forces for a noble cause: raising funds for the construction of a welcoming rest stop on the Via Transilvanica trail. Imagine a much-needed resting place for hikers, where they can relax and enjoy the beauty of the Transylvanian landscape!

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, May 23rd, starting at 5.30 PM, at the Transylvania College Forum. Come and be carried away by the film’s story and contribute, through your presence, to the realization of this wonderful project.

The film has subtitles in English.

INVITATION FOR PARENTS: Volunteering Action on the Via Transilvanica

Dear Parents,

My name is Mihaela Romaniuc, and I am an English teacher at Transylvania College and the coordinator of the service learning project Tasuleasa Social (Via Transilvanica).

Every year in May, Tasuleasa Social organizes an important maintenance and cleaning activity on the Via Transilvanica trail. This year, the event will take place on May 10th.

Our school, Transylvania College, will also participate in this initiative in Alba County, in the area of Daia Română, in partnership with Daia Română General School.

We warmly invite you to participate alongside your children in this action!

If you would like only your child to join the school group (middle school or high school only), we have reserved a 20-seat minibus specifically for middle school and high school students who come without parents. Please be aware that there will be a transportation cost, the final price of which we will receive shortly from the transport company.

The plan is as follows:

Departure: 8:00 AM from Cluj-Napoca, from the school.
Return: around 4:00 PM, back at the school.

Mufti Day - Amicii Dog Shelter

On April 15th we will organise a mufti day in primary and middle school in order to support the Amicii Dog Shelter. There has recently been a fire that destroyed their premises.

The money we raise will entirely be donated to buy food and necessary supplies for the dogs.

Thank you, Emma, Ian and Lara (year 7) for your involvement. This emergency action team designed the poster attached and will inform and mobilise students to contribute.

CROSUL SUPEREROILOR - Sports Festival "Alergăm împreună!"

Dear all, this year, half of the money will be donated to Via Transilvanica. If you are a fan of running, please participate. We are going to make T-shirts as TC Via Transilvanica supporters. Please let Miss Mihaela Romaniuc know if you register. This weekend they still have promotional prices.

Tășu Track - March 21th

Tășuleasa activity today! Please bear in mind that it is lead by HS students, Tășu Team and Eco Team members.

Each class in primary and Middle School is invited to participate according to the schedule shared by Sara Pop.

The amount for supporting this activity is 20 lei/student and it will be used for sustaining the Via Transilvanica SL project.

We have new volunteers in the tem, if you see them hesitating, stumbling, please be understanding and gentle and give them encouraging feedback.

World of Difference - Service camps 2025-26

World of Difference equips a new generation with highly relevant skills, through fresh and innovative approaches, in order to build the students as bold future leaders.

The groups need to be formed of minimum 12 students, the costs (flights not included) start from:

2500 euro - 7 days in Tenerife, Canary Islands - service project on coastal & marine conservation
2500 euro - 7 days in Kefalonia, Greece - service project turtle conservation
3200 euro - 10 days in Cape Town, South Africa - service project on community development (see video)

For traveling in September/October 2025, please see some timelines to assist in moving forward:

Gain approval to launch the trip by April 2025
Launch to families in April/May 2025
Deposit due in June 2025 (allows students to secure their spots)
Final balance and student numbers due: July 2025

Organizers also offer:

- A launch meeting in which we host an information session and present the selected program to parents.

- A dedicated account manager: who is an expert in the location of choice, and will be assigned to your school as a direct contact for parents, and to help facilitate all documentation and pre-departure requirements.

MoneyFest - fundraising for the SL projects in primary

Tășu Parents Șezătoare

Dear all, we had a great afternoon with students, parents and teachers at Tasu Parents Sezatoare. Special thanks to miss Mirela for organising and to miss Irina for her support!

We are going to hold two more events like this, one on Monday, the 2nd December and another one on Wednesday, the 4th December, both from 3.30 to 5pm. You are welcome to join us!

If you have blue jeans that you no longer need, please bring them to school and donate to miss Mirela. We are going to recycle them and make Christmas decorations. Thank you so much for your support!

Winter Bazaar

The annual winter fundraising will take place on Friday, December 6th, after lunch.

Students will be encouraged to sell books, toys, games, crafts etc. and donate their profit to various service learning projects.

Unwanted toys, books, games etc can also be donated to the school to be sold or donated to the organisations we collaborate with, such as Căsuța Bucuriei, Casa Familială "a mic" etc.

Middle school lighthouse team will raise funds for their service project for the elderly people in Muntele Cacovei.

Shoe Box

has also become a tradition during this time of the year. Your donations will reach less fortunate children, bringing them a little moment of joy.

Donate the unwanted toys, books, games, etc.
Profits go to a service learning project of the class’s choice.

Where: MS Floor

Profits go to the MS Lighthouse service project - Elderly in Muntele Cacovei

High School

Leadership teams in HS can also fundraise for their projects: Via Transilvanica, Robotics, Eco Team etc.

Tașu Parents trip on Via Transilvanica

10 students from high school and parents of some students are participating in this Tasuleasa parents trip, in the heart of Sibiu county, in the picturesque village of Axente Sever, is the Frauendorf Guest House, a place where Romanian tradition and hospitality meet. The aim of this trip is to show the parents the future step our school will be involved in as part of the Via Transilvanica project @TC.

Great Service-learning project initiated by the Alphatronics team:

A curriculum created by the students, appreciated and validated by the CCD, in place to be taught by the Alphatronics team to teachers and students in Cluj county this December.
This initiative will also be introduced to the Babes Bolyai University in their teachers' training programmes

Congratulations, dear Alphatronic students and coordinating teachers, for this wonderful initiative and hard work aligning your academic knowledge and skills with leadership and with service to community! That's what makes a great Service-learning project!

Halloween fundraising

MoneyFEST team is organising this year’s halloween mufti day, along with a pumpkin contest.

The participation fee is 10 RON. You will need to bring your own decent size pumpkin and carving/painting utensils (we recommend also a second set of clothes).

The fourth lesson of the day (12:05-13:00) will be free for those who will sign up for the contest. This is the time in which you will decorate and carve the pumpkins.

In the lunch break, you will have the opportunity to present your work in the Forum and our judges will rate it.

Also, keep in mind that this is a competition, meaning that prizes will be awarded at the end.

Amicii Dog Shelter SL project

We will be having our third annual halloween raffle.

As always the rule is that the winner has to share the candy with the class but they keep the pumpkin and their pick of the candy.

Tickets will be sold during the breaks tomorrow likely in the reception and/or seating area next to the cafe.

As always, the money goes to Amicii Dog Shelter to help them prepare for the long hard winter with their 300+ dogs.

🎉🎉🎉 The Halloween raffle was very successful. The money will be donated to the shelter. Thank you all for your contributions!

Via Transilvanica

MUFTI DAY - 10 Oct. 2024 to suport our Tășu project

The project was initiated in 2018, the year celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Great Union of all Romanian states into one nation, at Alba Iulia. This initiative came as a response to the need of having a national project that is truly about unity. That's how the concept "the road that unites" was born.

Via Transilvanica unites not only the ten counties it passes through, but also the entire ethnic, cultural, historical and geographical diversity of Transylvania and the whole country, and last but not least, all those who travel on it.

On 8 October 2022, people gathered in Alba Iulia again,more than 10,000 people, to launch the Via Transilvanica route, 1,400 km all done.

8th October became Via Transilvanica Day.

September 2024
