Curriculum Philosophy


Topeka Public Schools is committed to providing an aligned curriculum that is designed based on the principles of Understanding by Design, Wiggins and McTighe.

Curriculum and Assessment teams, made up of Topeka Public School teachers, develop the Curriculum Design Maps and annually review and revise them. The Curriculum Design Maps (CDM) hold tightly to the Kansas State Department of Education content standards. The CDM are intended to provide students with a guaranteed and viable curriculum, Marzano.
