Course of Information Sciences and Arts

Credits and other completion requirements

  1. Students must earn more than 30 credits including 4 credits from the“ Common Field” classes.

  2. In principle, students must earn “Advanced Research in Information Sciences and Arts I - IV” and “Advanced Seminars in Information Sciences and Arts I - IV” given by their academic supervisors.

Course Registration

  1. Students must earn more than 30 credits including 4 credits from the“ Common Field” classes.

  2. In principle, students must register for “Advanced Research in Information Sciences and Arts I - IV” and“Advanced Seminars in Information Sciences and Arts I - IV” given by their academic supervisors every semester in numerical order. In the case of students who have extended the duration of their study under the long-term study plan system and who have earned credits of all research guidance courses, they must register for “Advanced Research in Information Sciences and Arts IV” and “Advanced Seminars in Information Sciences and Arts IV” in each extended semester. (Only 2 credits each from “Advanced Research in Information Sciences and Arts IV” and “Advanced Seminars in Information Sciences and Arts IV” are counted toward program completion.)

  3. Students should seek advice from their academic supervisors regarding their course registration.

  4. In addition to the courses as listed above, if their academic supervisors deem it necessary for research guidance, students may take courses offered by other graduate schools/courses of Toyo University and a maximum of 15 credits may be counted as the required credits for the Master’s degree completion (lectures of the same name may only be taken once).

  5. Students must receive research guidance from their academic supervisor and co-supervisor(s) to complete their Master’s degree.

Visiting Professor

In order to further the advancement, vitalization, and internationalization of educational research at the Graduate School, we have successful researchers from external research organizations to join our faculty to provide research guidance. Students who wish to receive guidance from a visiting professor should inquire with their academic supervisors.

Taking Online Classes

A student who is studying abroad or goes on a long term internship can take the “Research Review” class online with their supervisor, if their supervisor and the graduate school committee approve that would be necessary for the students. If you consider studying abroad as an exchange student, please contact with the Education and Student Affairs Section.
