Service Learning
These practicum courses aim to allow students to participate in a practicum (such as activities involving the practice of work and regional contribution activities) in order to practice what they have learned in university by working with government offices, companies, organizations, etc. in Japan or abroad during the summer or spring break. Students are evaluated and graded according to their achievements in the practicum and preparatory and review studies (including paper writing and a presentation at a report meeting). Students are also required to conduct practicum activities for 60 or more hours per two credits. Host organizations are limited to those which the Department recommends.

Costs
Transportation expenses to the host organization
* In principle, students are responsible for the transportation expenses.

Courses for students enrolled in AY 2025 and AY 2028:“Service-Learning A/B” Two credits each
Courses for students enrolled between AY 2021 and AY 2024: “Service-Learning for Global Projects I~IV”, ” Service-Learning for Local Projects I~IV” Two credits each

Registration for these courses requires students to have already completed “An Introduction to Project Studies”
Complete the necessary procedures after checking the syllabus and information posted on ToyoNet-ACE (course title: Service Learning), including the “GUIDEBOOK FOR SERVICE LEARNING COURSES” and the list of host organizations that the Department recommends, and register for the course in the following semester after you participate in the practicum.

Apply in advance during spring semester → Receive preparatory guidance → Participate in practicum during summer break → Register for the course for the following fall semester, and receive review guidance (including on paper writing and presentation at a report meeting) in order to be graded by the instructor.
