Wellbeing

The character and wellbeing of our students is fundamental to the fabric of Townley school life. The school has been “Highly Commended” by the DfE for its “Innovative and consistent approach” towards Character Education. As part of our wider provision All Townley students have timetabled Character and Wellbeing lessons on their timetable for 35 mins each week, the purpose of these sessions is to further develop the character, enhance the physical and mental health of our students and help them learn how to make safe and wise decisions in life. In Year 9 students learn more about positive psychology, healthy relationships (SRE) and money matters.

At Townley, we have Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Wellbeing Ambassadors.

Each house group also has its own Kindness Representative.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors:

An Anti-Bullying Ambassador is someone who works to try to tackle bullying in their school, work and/or community. They receive training from the Diana Award at a special training event. These students apply and are selected before taking place in the training. There is not a minimum/maximum per form as selection is done by application.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

A Wellbeing Ambassador is a pupil representative with a special responsibility for leading and promoting the wellbeing of the school population. Collectively, these pupils may work across the school as peer supporters and wellbeing campaigners – wellbeing ambassadors are at the very heart of a school's wellbeing work. These students apply and are selected before taking place in the training. There is not a minimum/maximum per form as selection is done by application.
