Leadership Programmes

Students have access to a variety of Leadership programmes at Townley.

Year 7 Sustainable Leadership Course

All Year 7 students embark on their leadership journey at TG with this programme which consists of: The Hero's Journey, The Power of Diverse Thinking and Service leadership. Each student is given the opportunity to learn about key leadership aptitudes and develop their own confidence and sense of leadership. Purpose is to help students realise they are all leaders. Past successes include student led assemblies, powerful self hero journey presentations and GSL trips.

Year 8-9 International Relations Programmes

Innovative curriculum with 95% positive feedback from all students. Course in year 8 serves as in intro to key concepts such as: What is the State? Why do we need passports? Globalisation, Migration and now pandemics. Year 9 course evolves into research skills with a very successful Genocide Research project which further diversifies our curriculum (Students learn about the Rwandan Genocide, plight of the Aboriginal people and Bosnian massacres) Students demonstrate leadership through presenting, researching and finding their own passion within IR.

Year 9 First Give Programme

Whole cohort embark on a social enterprise programme which facilitates social conscience and youth empowerment through advocating and engaging with a local grass root charity and understanding how volunteering rather than fundraising is more valuable to some charities.

EDI student groups

Range of students from years 7 onwards engage directly with FFA outside of official school council structures to role model how engaging with school leaders can develop whole school change: Ongoing projects, Hijab policy and hair policy.

Year 11 podcast group

Six Year 11 students working with Mr de Fabiani to create TG student podcasts and then cascade to all year groups. External training and support is provided for students.

Ivy House

Ivy House is one of the Year 12 electives. It is a leadership programme which runs across twenty sessions to discover who you are as a person. You will develop techniques to take ownership of your lives and make things happen.

Year 12 Townley Leadership Programme

Bespoke leadership sessions which deliver outcomes such as managing yourself, mindfulness and purpose. Culminates in showcase event which actively takes students out of their comfort zones and develops their ability to communicate and network. Activating social mobility skills.

International Integration Programme

We also run an International Integration Programme in which students from across the globe integrate into our lessons for a week or more. We have previously had students from China, India, Taiwan, Spain, Italy, Austria and Germany. Each integration student is allocated a Townley buddy who looks after that student during their time in school, taking them to their lessons and clubs and ensuring they are cared for during break and lunch.
