About the Partner Institution
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTU-A) is one of Andhra Pradesh's premier technical universities, committed to producing industry-ready engineering and technology graduates. As one of TOOOPLE's earliest institutional partners in India, JNTU Anantapur was the site of a landmark pilot — the first cohort of students to complete the Foundation Certificate in Applied Project Development under the NOCN (UK) endorsed framework.
The Program
TOOOPLE's APD Foundation program at JNTU Anantapur was delivered as Pilot 1, with students completing Unit 100 — Project Research and Initiation, the foundational unit of the Applied Project Development certification track. This unit challenged students to move beyond conventional academic project work and engage with a structured, internationally benchmarked methodology for researching and initiating real-world projects.
Over 3–5 weeks, students were guided by certified mentors through four progressive modules: researching the project, documenting the problem, articulating the project context, and defining success criteria. Every student was individually assessed through a rigorous multi-layered evaluation process.
Assessment & Evaluation Framework
The evaluation at JNTU Anantapur exemplified the rigour and integrity of the NOCN (UK) endorsed framework. Each student was assessed across four dimensions:
Self Evaluation — Students rated their own performance across key competency areas, building self-awareness and accountability.
Mentor Evaluation — Certified mentors assessed students across Evaluation Topics including Topic Selection, Existing Knowledge and Research, Design Process, Analysis, Conclusions, Enquiry and Analysis (covering Limitations, Explanation of Issues, Evidence, Influence of Context, and Student's Position), Critical Thinking, and Presentation quality.
Final Presentation Evaluation — An independent panel of industry and academic evaluators — including Andrew Crow, Eswara Reddy, Shoba Bindu, and Ramesh Narasimha — assessed student presentations on Content, Eye Contact, Volume and Clarity, Flow, Confidence and Attitude, Visual Aid, and Time management.
Peer Evaluation — Students evaluated one another, reinforcing collaborative learning and professional objectivity.
The combined score was calculated out of 100, with Project Documentation weighted at 60%, Project Presentation at 30%, and Peer Evaluation at 10%. The grading scale ranged from Needs Help (0–49) through Pass, Credit, Distinction, to High Distinction (80–100). Students received their final awarded grade — with the pilot cohort achieving a combined score of 68.2, placing them in the Credit grade band.

Why This Milestone Matters
The JNTU Anantapur Pilot 1 was more than a program — it was proof of concept. It demonstrated that the NOCN (UK) APD framework could be successfully implemented within an Indian university setting, evaluated to international standards, and recognised by some of India's most distinguished academic and industry voices. The presence of NOCN's international leadership alongside JNTU's Vice Chancellor and Rector at the certificate ceremony signalled a powerful convergence of global certification credibility and local institutional commitment.
For institutions considering the APD program, JNTU Anantapur's Pilot 1 stands as the benchmark — showing what is possible when structured mentorship, international standards, and student ambition come together.
