A. Introduction
Uganda is situated in the equatorial region of the inland areas of Africa. Its outgoing seaway has to go past that of neighbouring countries. It has an inland tropical climate and a total area of 241,038 km2. As of 2019, the estimated population is around 40 million. Natural resources are copper, cobalt, limestone, forest and salt.
B. Economic and Social Situation
Christianity is the most widely practised religion in the country, with about 85% of Uganda’s population. The next most popular religion is Islam. The country uses over 30 languages, with English and Swahili as its official languages.
Due to the regular rainfall, agriculture is the most important sector of the economy and coffee is the major export crop. The stability of the political and economic situation enables a healthy economy growth in Uganda. Major industries are sugar, brewing, tobacco, cotton textiles and cement. Agricultural products include coffee, tea, cotton, tobacco, cassava, potatoes, corn beef, mutton, milk and poultry.
