A. Introduction
Ghana, formerly known as the Gold Coast, is situated in the west coast of Africa. It has tropical weather and has an area of over 238,000 km2. The major industries are mining (gold, industrial-used diamond, aluminium and manganese), forestry, fishery and agriculture. It has a population of around 30 million as of 2019.
B. Religion and Social Situation
Ghana enjoyed freedom of religion. More than one-half of the population is Christian, about one-fifth is Muslim, and a small segment adheres to the traditional indigenous religions. 38% indigenous beliefs, 30% Islam, 24% Christianity, and 8% others. English is the official language. Other native languages used are Akan, Moshi-Dagomba, Ewé and Ga.
Due to the rich natural resources, the people in Ghana are comparatively wealthier than other African neighbours. Agricultural production is still the country’s major economical activity. Its major economic productions are cocoa, rice, coffee, cassava (tapioca), peanuts, corn, banana and timber etc.
