Log into Alma and choose the Configuration option in the Alma Production menu.
In the top Configuring menu, choose the appropriate library (e.g., Rolfing Memorial Library).
Go to Fulfillment > Locations > Physical Locations.
Click on Add Location and fill in the following information:
Enter a logical abbreviation for the collection (all lower case) in the Code field.
Note: Once you choose a code, it cannot be changed.
Enter the collection's full name in the Name field.
If you would like the catalog to display a different name than the one you give the collection, enter it in the External Name field.
In the Type field:
For typical (circulating) collections, choose Open.
For Archive collections, choose Closed.
Note: We do not currently have remote storage at Rolfing Library; unless specifically directed by your supervisor, do not add unavailable collections; do not select Not in Library.
Leave the Remote Storage field blank.
In the Fulfillment Unit field, choose the loan type that matches the collection. (Note: Typical loans are classified as "Circulating.")
Choose the appropriate Call Number Type.
If the location is in an unconventional area, add a short description in the Map field.
Click Add Location.
Log into Alma and choose the Configuration option in the Alma Production menu.
In the top Configuring menu, choose the appropriate library (e.g., Rolfing Memorial Library).
Go to Fulfillment > Locations > Physical Locations.
Click on the Action Menu beside the collection and select Edit.
Note: Except for the Code, you can change any of the information you entered when you created the collection.
Make sure that a circulation desk is assigned in the Pysical Location Circulaiton Desks List:
Click Attach Existing Circulation Desk.
In the Existing Circulation Desk dropdown menu, select Checkout Desk.
Make sure that all three options (Check In, Check Out, and Reshelve) are all selected.
Note: Select all three options, even if the collection is not circulating -- this will allow work orders to be placed on items and uses to be recorded.
Click Attach Existing Circulation Desk.
When you have finished editing the collection, click Save.
