On Monday, we waved goodbye to a group of our Year 6 children who have spent the week at Caythorpe Court. Mr Holloway and Miss Clarke have been updating us with how the children have been getting on -they have been having a fabulous time with all of the children taking part in the activities on offer. I am sure they will all sleep well this week!
Year 1, Year 2 and Year 4 have been completing their statutory assessments this week. We have been very impressed with how sensibly they have completed their tests and know that they will have done themselves proud.
During this week and throughout our celebration assembly today, there were 2 words which all of the teachers used: resilience and perseverance. We love that our children are developing the skills to keep on going even when learning is tough - this is where we see them flying in their understanding and learning!
As part of our Creating a Better World topic, Year 4 visited the Natural History Museum in London. They had a fabulous time, discovering the amazing exhibits. They also took part in a Lego Build the Change: Safe our Planet workshop where the children were tasked with creating solutions to problems which are faced in the world today.
Be Active have funded some FREE family football sessions for your Year 6 pupils who will be attending Houston School in September.
The sessions will be run by fully qualified coaches from Dunstable Town Football Club at Houstone school and are free of charge. They are running every Thursday 6-7pm between now and July 18th 2024.
The idea is that your Year 6 pupils will experience fun activities at their new school and have the opportunity to meet other children who will join them there in September. It also gives the parents/care givers a chance to play, have fun and meet new people.
Whole School attendance to date: 94.1%
Whole School attendance this week: 93.4%
From September 2024, the rules around attendance are changing. The poster above explains how in more detail. Please familiarise yourself with the details as these will be applied from September.
Please remember to treat the community with respect when dropping off and collecting from school.
Parking remains a concern for the school as many families continue to insist on parking dangerously and without regard for driveways.
Parking a small distance away from school will ease the congestion; improve the safety of our families; and also allow the children to have get some exercise before school begins.
This half term is incredibly busy with events. Next week we have our final SEND parents evening of the year. This is an opportunity to review targets; update provisions ready for September; and celebrate the successes of this academic year. If you haven't already booked your appointment, please do!
The last day of this academic year is Friday 19th July. School will finish at 2pm -there will be no BIG Fun Club provision on this day.
