It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school after the half term break. The lighter mornings and evenings and the appearance of the sun a few times have made everyone feel like the spring is on the way! Please remember to ensure that childern wear appropriate clothing for the weather - whilst it is becoming brighter, it is still cold outside, particularly in the mornings.
We began Cycle 3 the week before the half term holidays and will continue learning about how the world has changed and the impact this has had on the way we live today. During our assemblies, we have been focusing on how different things have changed over time. Mr Holloway and the School Council spoke to the children about how our school has changed and what we are doing to continue to improve the environment and increase biodiversity. We have been lucky enough to secure a grant to help us to do this.
We are excited to hear the poems/rhymes (Reception and KS1) and speeches (KS2) that the children are preparing for our Public Speaking competition.
Class teachers will have shared with their classes when the heats will take place. Children should have their speeches in school ready to share. Remember that there is no need for props or powerpoints - the speaking should be the star of the show!
Families will receive an invite to the final if their child is successful in going through to the final.
This week we have been informed by HCL (our school meals provider) that they are increasing the prices of school meals. This is due to the increased cost of of buying the produce used to make the meals and also increases in staffing costs.
The new price per meal will be £2.80
The price increase will be applied to all meals from Monday 13th April.
After a period of ill health, Mrs Ryan has sadly made the decision to retire.
She popped into school a couple of weeks ago to see the children and staff. As we walked around school it was evident how much the children had missed her from the gasps of surprise and the smiles. She loved seeing the children and sends her best wishes to all of our families.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Ryan for her unwavering support as the Deputy Headteacher and for everything she has done for the Tithe Farm community. We wish her all the best for the future!
We are currently advertising for a new Deputy Headteacher and will inform families once we have made an appointment into this role.
Whole School Attendance to date: 94% 🎉
Whole school attendance target set by the DfE: at least 94%
Attendance Ted is visiting Turquoise (99%) class this week - we hope he has some super adventures!
Attendance has steadily improved as the week has progressed which is good news because when children are in school they are able to feel part of the community as well as accessing their learning.
We have had some excellent success with our new support systems. Some families will have recieved phone calls this week which has been a celebration of improved attendance. If you are having difficulties with attendance, please contact the school. We have a team of people who may be able to offer support or signpost you to other professionals who can help.
Please remember that when a child is late, this does effect their attendance percentage and if they are late after the register closes then this is counted as an unauthorised absence. These can, if a regular occurance, result in a fine.
