This week we have been celebrating all things Science. Miss Salisbury launched Science week with some fantastic experiments in our assemblies to ignite the children's interest. This has then been followed up each lunch time with different workshops which the children have been able to attend. It has been lovely to see how excited they have been watching science in action.
On Wednesday it was Young Carers Action Day. Our fabulous Young Carers prepared and delivered an assembly to the children explaining what being a Young Carer meant. They also produced a lesson for teachers to share with their classes to raise awareness. If you think your child may be a Young Carer, please speak to Mrs Molloy who will be able to sign post you to support and share details of what we do in school.
Thank-you to Topaz Class who shared their learning with the school and their families today in their assembly. We love how confident you are becoming when speaking in front of a group of people.
We would like to remind families of our expectations regarding the use of mobile phones on the school site.
Mobile phones should only be brought to school by children in Year 5 and Year 6, this is to support independence when walking to and from school and to aid their understanding of appropriate use before they move to secondary school.
Mobile phones must not be used anywhere on the school premises. This rule applies as soon as pupils enter the school perimeter, including the car park and the area by the Neighbourhood Centre. Phones should be switched off and kept in bags or coat pockets until they can be handed in to a member of staff.
This expectation is in place to ensure that pupils are engaging positively with one another and making the most of their time in school. We want students to be socialising with their friends, speaking to each other face-to-face, and building positive relationships, rather than making TikToks or messaging people who are standing next to them.
Staff members will ask pupils to put their phones away if they see them being used, and pupils are expected to follow these instructions immediately.
Recently, we have received a number of complaints regarding the use of mobile phones on the school site. We would therefore appreciate your support in reinforcing this message at home so that all pupils understand the expectations and follow them consistently.
It would also be wonderful for pupils to see families modelling this expectation. When adults put their phones away while on the school site and take the time to speak with their children and those around them, it reinforces the importance of being present and engaging with one another.
The Public Speaking heats are now coming to a close. If your child has been successful in progressing to the final, you will receive an invitation to the final next week. This will outline the time and date of the event.
Please remember that HCL are increasing the prices of school meals. This is due to the increased cost of of buying the produce used to make the meals and also increases in staffing costs.
The new price per meal will be £2.80
The price increase will be applied to all meals from Monday 13th April.
It is almost time for our end of term attendance raffle! Over the next 2 weeks, raffle tickets will be avaliable every day for those children who are in school on time. Every raffle ticket collected is an oppotunity to have your ticket drawn and win some amazing prizes. There are a possible 10 raffle tickets on offer for each child...I wonder who will collect all 10?
