This week four year 5 children took part the Hfl Education Year 5 maths challenge. They were an excellent team who worked well together to solve some very complex Maths. Mrs Hussain supported them during the challenge; she was very impressed with how well they thought outside the box.
Yesterday we had a fabulous World Book Day. It was lovely to see everyone dressed up as book character and celebrating the joy of books and reading. The children (and adults) had obviously thought long and hard about their costumes and loved showing them off to everyone! Remember to use your World Book Day Token either towards a book of your choice of for one of the specially written World Book Day books. Thank-you to Mr Holloway and all staff for the organisation of a lovely day.
Next week we are looking forward to Topaz performing their Class assembly on Thursday 12th @10:00am.
We would like to reassure you that there are currently no specific concerns relating to our school. However, we feel it is important to share this information so that we can work together to promote pupil safety and responsible online behaviour.
How You Can Help
We kindly ask parents and carers to:
• Talk with your child about safe and responsible use of social media
• Remind them not to engage with or share harmful or distressing content
• Encourage them to report anything worrying to a trusted adult
• Reinforce the importance of travelling safely to and from school
Please reassure your child that if they see posts or images suggesting school-related conflict, they should not respond or share them, but instead report them to the school.
Whole School Attendance to date: 94.1% 🎉
Whole school attendance target set by the DfE: at least 94%
Attendance Ted is visiting Onyx (99.11%) class this week - we hope he has some super adventures!
This week whole school attendance has been 96.26%. This is excellent -all children have (or will have) 5 minutes extra playtime as a reward.
A big ‘thank you’ to all of the parents who are working with us to improve our attendance.
Sometimes it can be difficult to know whether to bring your child to school. If your child has a cough or a cold, we usually still expect them to be attending school. If you are worried about how they will manage, please inform the adult on the door at drop off. They will keep an extra eye on them and be in touch if we need to. Often being in school allows childre to forget about how they were feeling in the morning and enjoy learning with their friends.
We are excited to hear the poems/rhymes (Reception and KS1) and speeches (KS2) that the children are preparing for our Public Speaking competition.
Class teachers will have shared with their classes when the heats will take place. Children should have their speeches in school ready to share. Remember that there is no need for props or powerpoints - the speaking should be the star of the show!
Families will receive an invite to the final if their child is successful in going through to the final.
This week we have been informed by HCL (our school meals provider) that they are increasing the prices of school meals. This is due to the increased cost of of buying the produce used to make the meals and also increases in staffing costs.
The new price per meal will be £2.80
The price increase will be applied to all meals from Monday 13th April.
