Online class websites are available through the UCLA's Bruin Learn. Class websites are useful tools to hold communication, electronic documents for download, online discussions, streaming movies from the Media Lab and many other asynchronous tools to help manage your class. Media Lab films must be reserved through UCLA Instructional Media Lab and will take one week from the time of your request to be available online.
You can find your class website ready for you to use on MyUCLA. If it is not there, please contact the TFT IT helpdesk at helpdesk@tft.freshservice.com
Visit the LMS Transformation website for more information and the Bruin Learn Resources site for training materials and live events.
During AY 2021-2022, the Academic Senate had recommended that faculty be prepared to record classes if students are out for public health mitigation reasons (symptoms, quarantine, etc.) Recording capability is optional and recommended under certain circumstances, but not required. Below are options for recording classes:
Rolling “Zoom Room” monitors / smartboards by DTEN are installed in some Macgowan classrooms.
Portable iPad recording kits are available for checkout from TFT IT. Contact the Theater MSO/Department Manager, for more details.
Several classrooms have upgrades underway to add motorized cameras and lavalier microphones that can be used with instructor laptops.
General assignment classrooms across campus are being augmented with Zoom capability suitable for lecture recording / streaming (but not two-way communication in all situations).
Please see this document for more information on each of these options and recording instructions.
Questions about classrooms in Macgowan or Melnitz, contact TFT IT - helpdesk@tft.freshservice.com (310) 206-3590
